New Job Java Developer - Contract - LT/JAVA.CONT Industry: IT Job Type: Contract Location: London, England Salary: £400 - £425 per day Java Developer - Contract - London - 3 months initially Are you a creative and passionate Java Developer? Driven by working on cutting edge technologies? Ive a contract that will see you working on ground breaking, never been done before products in the media space. My client are entering the next phase of their project starting in Jan 2014 and looking for additional developers to come on board. You will report into the Software Engineering Director and design and implement high quality, state of the art software to meet business objectives. The development is done in a vibrant and dynamic environment and you will own the software delivery from analysis through to delivery and maintenance. Your key responsibilities include: - Making a significant contribution to ensure a cohesive and integrated engineering team, defining and advocating best engineering and delivery practices. - Defining user stories and acceptance criteria. - Developing creative and robust technical solutions. - Writing excellent code, associated development tests and components. - Improving software quality. - Enhancing coding standards and design patterns. - Contributing to architecture and design. Potential candidates will have: - A proven background in Java development on Linux server platforms building robust, scalable solutions. - A creative and pro-active problem solving mentality along with the ability to write code following TDD and iterative development. - A knowledge of Agile development practices. - Experience developing in the Middleware tier with tools such as JMS, ActiveMQ etc. - Enterprise level Java development of high performance, business critical systems. - A solid understanding of data structures and algorithms. - An appreciation of modern architecture. - Knowledge on how to build large scale data solutions. - An appreciation from the ground up how great code is written. - The ability to work to extremely tight deadlines and pressured environments. - Experience or know-how of Search indexing tools or media tools.
