New Model Comes In Colder! Watching the NAM forecast model come in showing our temperatures 3,000 ft up are a degree or two colder.. While that doesnt sound like much its important and will help us cool the atmosphere faster (esp outside of 95) There is still a rather large warm pocket between the ground and 3000 ft up which we must overcome. Signs now tells us upward lift will happen rapidly helping to cool that warm layer pushing the cold air from 3,000 ft up down to the surface. Dynamic cooling is greater when our 850mb temps are colder than 0c... And thats what is showing. While I still like our totals ... If trends continue colder the higher end of the range would be accepted (on grassy surfaces ..car tops.. Decks.. And secondary roads)
