New Year’s Resolutions We do not need to generate a New Year’s Resolutions list for this year. Paul has done that for us. Since we are chosen by God, Paul says that we must take on the following characteristics: compassion, kindness, humility, patience, gentleness, forgiveness, love, peace, and thankfulness (Colossians 3:12-15). Since these are the character traits that the Lord wants us to exhibit, all other resolutions seem to pale in importance. But these characteristics are not easy to exhibit on a consistent basis. It is possible to slow down and live according to these traits both at home and at work, but we have to engage in conscious thought and take extra time to demonstrate these traits. By demonstrating these traits at work, we are telling others how important living within God’s will is to us. This resolution will cost us time and effort, but the payoff will be enormous. If we follow this resolution, we will introduce others to God’s grace and eternal life in Heaven. Dear Father, thank you for choosing us to be your servants here on Earth. Help us to slow down and make these traits a natural part of our character. In this way, we can show others how important you are to us. Amen
