New York State has confirmed cases of Enterovirus D68 in Albany - TopicsExpress

New York State has confirmed cases of Enterovirus D68 in Albany and central NY, and there have been numerous reports of clusters of respiratory illness in other areas of the state, including the Hudson Valley. Symptoms of this virus include runny nose, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing/wheezing, muscle soreness and fatigue, and in some cases, fever. A history of asthma and wheezing appears to be a significant risk factor for more severe cases. We cannot stress enough the importance of hand washing and proper cough etiquette. Please discuss these topics with your children, and remind them to practice proper hygiene as often as they need reminding. As always, if your child presents symptoms of illness, or if you have any questions or concerns, please call our office at 845 496 KIDS (5437). In the case of respiratory symptoms, please do not wait to schedule an appointment. Please see the link below from the CDC for how to Cover Your Cough. Thank you!!
