New Zealand Wheelchair Bodybuilding Federation - NZWBBF New Zealand’s First Official Wheelchair Bodybuilding Organisation In a history-making, legacy-securing move, New Zealand is now leading the way for wheelchair bodybuilders with its newly founded New Zealand Wheelchair Body Building Federation. Says its President and Founding Father David Robson, “establishing wheelchair bodybuilding in New Zealand has been a dream of mine for many years; with the growing popularity of wheelchair bodybuilding worldwide I decided it was now time to provide such an opportunity for Kiwi wheelchair users.” In establishing the NZWBBF, which David expects to grow exponentially as more people begin to see the merit in promoting bodybuilding (both lifestyle and sporting pursuit) within the New Zealand disability sector, wheelchair users will be afforded yet another opportunity to challenge their physical capabilities in an activity that many consider to be among the most rewarding of all sports. Says David: “I hereby predict that the newly developed sport of wheelchair bodybuilding in New Zealand, led by founding organisation the NZWBBF, will become a massive drawcard for many male and female wheelchair users and other bodybuilding organisations will begin to follow suit. A major advantage wheelchair bodybuilding has over other wheelchair sports is that it can be participated in by almost all wheelchair users who are able to lift weights, irrespective of conditions that may preclude involvement in contact sports such as wheelchair basketball and rugby.” “Let’s all get behind this new kiwi sport, just as thousands from other countries such as the USA have for decades supported wheelchair bodybuilding as a viable sporting opportunity for people with physical disabilities,” says David. If you are a New Zealand wheelchair user and would like to challenge yourself, to become one of a select group of wheelchair bodybuilders, contact the NZWBBF today.
