New Zealand has been held up as an example of a country that is smaller but has done very well as an independent country so Scotland could be the same I believe. A number of people say Alex Salmond cannot be trusted however under his minority government Scotland is thriving economically and a number of decent Socialist policies have been introduced including lower cost elderly care and free education. The NHS has been protected from privatisation. And the Scottish Parliament is a true democracy with the politicians voted in by the people. With independence Scots could no more be ruled by the Conservative party which they reject outright time-after-time. So much more could be done if Trident was eliminated. It would be no use if there was nuclear war and has been located in Scotland because England does not want the health risks in its own backyard. The money could be better spent dealing with the complex issues of job creation/poverty/crime/ageing population. Many Westminster politicians, both Conservative and Labour, cannot be trusted either and their policies are damaging the UK. The bullying tactics of the NO campaign are disgraceful including the scaremongering on currency and the suggestion that food prices will rise. They could just as well fall. Nobody can predict future economics. It was also a sight when 100 Labour MPs came up to Glasgow in the last few days to throw their weight around. They do not care about the people of Scotland but are concerned they will lose their own jobs, control and power. Self interest from the South strikes again ! The fact that David Cameron came to Scotland as a friend to plead that it stayed within the UK family then invited the supermarket bosses to Downing Street to instruct them to peddle these lies shows how the UK government cannot be trusted and how it is control and abuse of power that currently rules in the UK. Independence for Scotland offers a change to this Status Quo. On Thursday I hope the people of Scotland will vote for change and not be swayed by the lies that the most powerful use to fight their cause currently.
