New Zealand to host global mediation conference Some of the worlds leading international commercial mediators are set to converge on New Zealand in 2016. The international gathering in New Zealand is a joint undertaking of the Arbitrators’ and Mediators’ Institute of New Zealand (AMINZ) and the International Academy of Mediators (IAM). IAM represents commercial mediators from around the world. It leads international efforts to encourage mediation as a preferred method of dispute resolution and promotes the study and understanding of the mediation process. This marks the first time it has chosen to hold its bi-annual conference in the Asia-Pacific region. The agreement between AMINZ and IAM follows another successful pitch by AMINZ, and the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration, to host the International Council for Commercial Arbitration’s 2018 congress in Australia and New Zealand. Securing the IAM conference is yet another landmark in our work for local mediators and to provide our members with unparalleled new opportunities to learn and develop their expertise both here and abroad,” AMINZ Executive Director Deborah Hart says. “We are delighted to offer New Zealand mediators the opportunity to network and learn from IAM members, who will get to forge closer relationships with us and enjoy the unique Kiwi experience.”
