New analogy to help jurors unfamiliar w/ culture of gang influenced communities: So, you arent a cop but you get personally offended at anything you perceive as disrespect towards them and come to the aid of anyone carrying the #PoliceLivesMatter cause? Know how you feel the need to pick a side and clearly identify everyone as Friend or Foe? Know how you find Breathe Easy or I Can Breathe shirts comical because you know its mocking the other side? Why are you not a gang associate and responsible for the things that the organized group you empathize with on a cultural level does but this person is? See how easy to get swept up in local norms and a group mentality? Now consider the fact that the hysteria of the police brutality issue swept you up and yet you have absolutely no stake in the outcome. This person lives in a community that identifies and relates to people the same way cops do. The same way you do.
