New insights into pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA), a bacteria responsible for both acute and persistent infections in CF lungs shed light on yet another way they are able to evade toxins and antibiotics. The new PNAS study shows that PA is able to use appendages called ‘pili’ to link together and alter group motion to form “swarms” of bacteria and avoid antibiotics.
