New job: Beginning and Intermediate Orchestra at a charter school. Thinking about music for the Intermediates, where at this juncture, I expect to have 3 violinists who can read music and (if they let me) my youngest kid on just-took-it-up-last-week cello. The previous teacher gave me music with open-strings-only cello. Cool. So Im thinking about what maybe I can arrange... the bass solo from the 3rd mvt of Mahlers 1st symphony--cello plays the timpani part... The Elders Men of Erin--I think so... The Rainmakers To the Hum--take out the vocal ornaments and oooh! theres a drone! Yes! I think Im going to like this job. :)
