New jobs report out locally. Unemployment remains at 7%, but the report itself says that is because people gave up looking for work, and this has been dragging on for 4 years. No new jobs in Scranton/Lackawanna Co, people are only getting hired to fill existing positions. And the only reason unemployment is not going up with continual downsizing is that thousands are still dropping off the unemployment rolls each month as their benefits expire. They estimate true unemployment is over 20% locally, and that is NOT including people on Welfare who could be working. Only 1 in 10 college grads have found work in their field, high school grads are 1 in 20 to find full time work. Most college and high school grads can only find part-time (under 30 hour) jobs due to OBAMACARE.
