New local venture helps older people keep independent Lissie Balster, wife and mother of two from Kingsway, has set up her own companion care business ‘LissieBee’ to help older people in the local area. Lissie, who was a volunteer for 13 years caring for both the young and the elderly, started her own companion care business after she couldn’t find paid full-time work. Initially Lissie wants to attract clients from Quedgeley and the nearby area, and hopes to be able to offer her service across the county in the longer term. She has plans to buy a specially adapted vehicle for wheelchair users and, once her business is established, she wants to recruit a friend who is also fully trained as a companion carer.
