New poem inspired by a hole in Lizs sock last night when watching TV with me: Hole in My Sock Ive a hole in my sock where my toe pokes through Have a care Dont stare When Im without a shoe The sun burns inside it While the cold turns my skin blue Round the hole in my sock where my toe pokes through The situation is embarrassing me My teachers are complaining My parents are harassing me At a job interview whats the last thing you should do? Wear a sock with a hole where your toe pokes through Yes that tear near my tootsie Makes me look such a mess When Im walking anywhere I feel half-undressed To create a good impression Remove uncertainty and doubt Dont wear a sock with a hole where your toe pokes out If I knew how to darn Id contemplate sewing it My friends say Its beyond repair You should consider throwing it! Id get banned from the army, the police and boy scouts If I wore a sock with a hole where my toe poked out The space thats been created emits odour from my feet Making people shake in fear and frequently retreat The old cotton went rotten Its now moth-eaten and chewed That hole in my sock where my toe pokes through One day I reckon my sock will be ALL hole Then exposed to the air will be my ankle, heel and sole So please - slip me Sellotape, a stapler, nail or screw And Ill mend the hole in my sock where my toe pokes through
