The band members whereabouts are starting in Presov (Slovak Republic) and ending up in Brno(Czech Republic). But the distance and lack of rehearsals could not stop them to create something amazing. This is supported by the fact that band will be playing with Irish [ God is An Astronaut ] or American [ Pontiak ]. Inheritance is a mixture of guitar, piano and drums. The music could be related to modern fusion/post-jazz scene wrapped in ambient nuance. Arrhythmical guitar riffs accompanied by classical tones of piano and glued by pre-calculated groove drums.I hope you are going to enjoy their debut EP Distances. [ Distances “EP” ]. Very often the opening note of an album or an EP gives one a clear thought as to where an album or the EP is leading while at the same time, on seldom occasions the opening note can also be misleading in the sense that the band focusses on certain element at the very beginning of a release and then takes on a totally different approach towards the middle of the album. [ Distances ] EP, in this particular case, the debut album by [ Inheritance ] gathers four movements with a total duration of just over quarter an hour covers all the major aspects of instrumental math-rock. The band approach from the start of the EP is subtle and flawless right through till the end of the EP. “Malleus” the opener is a solid dose of instrumental-infused math rock, the sort of introduction that instantly elaborate on the glittering impact of all instrumental execution. Heading further into “Distances” you’ll bump into “Upon My Steps, He Never Wins”, yet another splendid piece with a slow and steady paced guitar rhythm. ( Make no mistake ) though, the track does tend to pick up on paced towards the middle with a slight speed guitar, but the rich and blissful textures are so apparent and so vivid that it bypasses the rhythmic shift. Moving forward to “Then He Moved On” the sound deepens, however, solidifying on the Mathy quality pushing toward an expansive evocation of bliss reminiscent of [ The Pattern Theory ]. Last but not least the EP closes with “and I Behind Him Follow” which gathers a steady texture of [ The Drift ] and the quietly emergent melodies of [ Blue Whale ]. Wrapping up… [ Inheritance / Distances ] blend a heartfelt fondness for the music the band creates. Although this EP do not showcase any momentum build with colossal waves and piercing distortion. [ Distances ], however, remain a solid beauty with unimaginable simple textures rather than complex for the sake of complexity. It’s a magnificent listen filled with soothing guitars notes and with an atmosphere that is simply breathtaking. DO NOT SKIP.
