New video has been released that offers a glimpse of an extremely rare pygmy hippo calf, this one born after Christmas at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo in London. Since his birth on Dec. 26, the unnamed boy has been happily waddling around and really loves being in water, according to the zoo. The zoo’s keepers say they are especially proud of his mother, 28-year-old Flora, who has cancer and came through “a difficult year” to give birth and become an attentive, doting mom. The tiny addition was a particularly welcome one as pygmy hippos are classified as an endangered species, according to the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
