#NewOrleans #Pelicans forward Anthony Davis is one of the only players in the NBA who could realistically be The Best Player in The World one day. Davis grew from 62 to 610 between his sophomore years and senior years in high school. He went from a lightly-recruited guard who had one scholarship offer to the best high school player in the country. As a result of that unusual growth spurt, Davis has the fundamentals and movements of the guard within the body of a center (hes now 611 and still growing). Hes the ultimate hybrid. Last year the 21-year-old had his breakout year. He averaged 21 points and 10 rebounds per game and led the league in blocks while making his first All-Star team. The essence of what makes Davis so good is found in that transition between being short and being tall. He was like, Mom, I need new school pants. Im like, Well, I just bought those? Are those the ones from last year? Those were the new ones Id just bought him. His parents took him to the doctor just to be sure everything that was happening was normal. Davis physician marveled that despite his rapid growth he didnt experience and pain or clumsiness. Davis is a guard who grew into a dominant big man while maintaining his inherent guard-ness. If hes able to put together all those skills in one package (which looks likely), the rest of the NBA should be terrified.
