Newcomer to the city Peggy Fittes posts: A sorry tale to tell.. Last Thursday I parked my car in Drews Ave which had signs for parking 120 mins. Being relatively new to Wanganui, I failed to notice it was pay and display. Anyway, off I went and when I returned to my car I had a $40 parking ticket for not displaying a pay and display. I have twice before, been slow getting back to my car on Victoria Ave and the most a ticket has ever been is $12.00 with a $3.00 reduction if paid immediately. Fair enough...................Ive always paid up. So: I have a $40.00 ticket for not displaying a Pay and Display from 1106 to 1129 hours Thursday morning. No discount for prompt payment. What I think is most unfair is that it would have been cheaper to leave my car in Victoria Ave 30 minutes over the paid time and it would have only cost me $9.00. What do you think? I learned a lesson,..its cheaper to get a parking ticket on Victoria Ave where everyone parks, instead of parking on Drews Ave where there are always loads of empty spaces. Love to hear what other people think..............
