Newer Year Every New Years Eve we kick up snow tracking the stars through cold and dark of night. We leave the house with every intention to trudge. The sort of walking that new, heavy winter snow impedes. We, knee deep, carve a path from one year into next. Leaving the house with time to spare we follow our frosting breaths while studying, each to oneself, a great possibility how to scribe the coming calendar. We allow a better day ahead. The annual sweeping away into another, newer year. At midnights silent ringing mend all past rips and tears. Hopeful hearted wed what we ourselves vow create. Last year, to this very night, in deep and drifting snow resolution mate. How dreaming meet fate. Slipping through the midnight crack, kiss. What we give, what we take. What well allow, what forsake.
