News 12 New Jersey has obtained this email that went out to residents of Avalon…. From: UpdatesfromAvalonEdgewater@avalonbay Sender: Allen_Soles@Avalonbay Date: Fri, 23 Jan 2015 09:48:37 -0500 Subject: Updates from Avalon Edgewater for Jan 23rd Dear Avalon Edgewater Resident, We are following up to the email from last evening to remind you of assistance that is available to all Avalon at Edgewater residents and to provide additional updates to all who lived in the Russell Building. We are providing $1,000 per apartment to support you with short term expenses including lodging and other incidentals. These funds are available for pick up at the Edgewater Recreation Center at 1167 River Road today from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. As we shared in last evening’s email, because of the damages sustained at the Russell Building, apartments in the Russell Building will not be able to be re-occupied, and therefore, in accordance with the terms of your lease, the leases have been terminated as of January 21, 2015. We have expedited funds so you are able to receive the pro-rated portion of January rent and your security deposit refund in full. That check is available for pick up today, from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm at the Edgewater Recreation Center. Because associates at the assistance center will not have access to your lease account details, any questions about the checks should be directed to our dedicated line at our Customer Care Center: 757-631-5010. The check, as required by law, is a single check per apartment home and made out to all leaseholders of the apartment. As of this morning, we still do not have confirmation from fire officials regarding when residents will be able to re-occupy their apartments in the River Building. While we know it is frustrating to not know when you will be able to move back into your home, we are committed to providing you this information as soon as possible. As we shared last evening, some other available assistance resources include: • Our assistance center, established together with the Bergen County Emergency Response Team and the Red Cross, continues to be open today from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm and is located at the Edgewater Recreation Center at 1167 River Road. • The Bergen County Humane Society is available to help with pet sheltering and can be contacted at 320-621-4111. • Mail pick up at the US Postal Office located at 770 River Road. • Our dedicated Customer Care Center at 757-631-5010 where you can speak to an Avalon associate from 8:30 am to 8:30 pm. • Nearby Avalon apartment communities. You can speak to an Avalon associate at the assistance center. As of this morning, no one is able to enter the property or their apartment at this time. We will notify you as soon as access is allowed and provide you with additional updates by email. Sincerely, Matt Smith Senior Vice President Operations
