News Brief 8 August Speed Limit Changes along Schmidmuehlen Road Aug. 5 - 24: Please be aware that the speed limit will change from 70kmh to 40kmh along the Schmidmuehlen Road in the vicinity of FOB East. There will also be two stops signs added along the road. These precautions are necessary due to increased military vehicle traffic in the area. The speed reductions and stop signs will remain in place from 05 August through 24 August. Warrior Sports Café menu adjustments Aug. 8: The Warrior Sports Café will be adjusting its menu effective 8 August. Until further notice due to reduced staffing, eggs made to order and omelets during breakfast and short order for lunch will not be available. We ask for your patience and support during this difficult time. Food Handlers Class Aug. 8: A food safety class is required for food service personnel who prepare or serve food to the public within the Hohenfels Community. Certification for individuals involved in fund raising food sales (BOSS, FRG, Clubs, Bazaars and CYS personnel). The class may also supplement required refresher training for regular food service employees. The class is free and will last approximately one hour. Registration is not required. This class will begin at 1 p.m. at the ACS training room, Bldg. 10. Vehicle Registration Office Closure Aug. 8: The Hohenfels Vehicle Registration Office will close on Thursday, 8 August. We regret any inconvenience this may cause. Resilience Training for Civilians and Family Members Aug. 8: Getting acclimated to changes, additions, surprises and issues in your personal life and in the family is not easy and is not a natural process. Get the best training possible focusing +on mental toughness and personal resilience as this remarkable program unfolds for the Hohenfels community. Our special morning seminar runs from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at ACS, Bldg 10. Great Expectations – weekly expecting parents program Aug. 8: A new convenient weekly lunch time program for those who are expecting a new arrival that answers questions books don’t. Geared for parents-to-be, this workshop covers topics such as birth certificate process in Germany, breast feeding, expectations, bringing baby home and much more. This week’s topics include prenatal care, WIC, nutrition & exercise. This rotating 6-week series runs every Thursday from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at ACS, Bldg 10. Stop by the Arts & Crafts center for more information.5 - 7 p.m. Warrior Sports Café lunch entrees Aug. 8: Steamship Round of Beef, Baked Yogurt Chicken, Mustard Dill Baked Fish, Vegetable Lasagna Commissary Rewards Card observes first anniversary with mobile app Aug. 8: The Defense Commissary Agency will observe the first anniversary of the Commissary Rewards Card. To coincide with this milestone, a mobile application will be available for patrons using the Apple iPhone. This mobile application can be found in the app store on all iPhones and iPads, allowing patrons the ability to access their rewards card account, select coupons and, review clipped, redeemed and expired coupons. The application also allows patrons to locate commissaries and obtain specific store information such as phone number and address. An Android app is planned for fiscal year 2014. Card users will also see options to receive alerts based on their purchases, reminders of clipped coupons awaiting redemption or expiration, and notices when new coupons are available.
