News: Cork Healthcare Chaplain Presented Research At 20th International Palliative Care Congress, Montreal: Canon Daniel Nuzum, Healthcare Chaplain at Cork University Hospital and Marymount University Hospice attended the 20th International Palliative Care Congress at Montreal, Canada from 9–12 September. Daniel presented an oral presentation ‘The spiritual and theological issues raised for Irish Healthcare Chaplain providing perinatal bereavement care in Ireland’ and three poster presentations from his PhD research at University College Cork and Cork University Maternity Hospital and a case study from Marymount University Hospital and Hospice and Cork University Hospital. Daniel said: ‘It is a huge privilege to be able to share research and good practice at what is the major international palliative care conference where over 1,000 participants from 60 countries gathered to share, to learn and to further the discipline of palliative care. I am very proud to be able to share on the world stage some of the research from our Pregnancy loss Research group at UCC and CUMH led by Dr Keelin O’Donoghue.’ Daniel had three published abstracts from his work published in the Journal of Palliative Care (30:3 Winter 2014). Daniel was joined by his academic supervisor and Clinical Director of Cork University Maternity Hospital Dr Keelin O’Donoghue, and Ms Orla O’Connell, Bereavement Midwife Specialist at Cork University Maternity Hospital who also presented a paper on perinatal palliative. ---
