#News :Dr. Tedros meets China’s Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs , Zhang Ming Foreign Minister Dr. Tedros Adhanom held a bilateral meeting with Zhang Ming, China’s Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs today (January 26) at the African Union. Discussions cover issues of political consultation and China-Africa Relations as well as bilateral, regional ad global issues. Dr. Tedros said the number of high delegations from China to Ethiopia recently testified to the excellent and growing relationship between the two countries. He emphasized that Ethiopia cherished its relationship with China. Dr. Tedros who briefed the Chinese delegation about regional developments also said Ethiopia appreciated the Chinese contribution to pacifying and stabilizing the region and especially its contributions in South Sudan. Zhang Ming said he was fully committed to further strengthen bilateral relations, noting that this year was the 45th anniversary of the Ethio-Chinese diplomatic links. He said China has become a significant partner of Ethiopia in various areas. Ethiopia has the largest number of direct flights from Africa to China and more missions and consulates in China than in demonstrated, had intensified. He said relations between the two countries would be strengthened for win-win benefits for both countries. The two sides discussed encouraging reputable and well-to-do Chinese companies to invest in Ethiopia in transportation, manufacturing, energy, infrastructure, agriculture and aviation, and the enhancement of people-to-people relations through scholarships, exchange programs, cultural centers and coordination of development agendas. Zhang Ming, who underlined China’s firm commitment to cooperation in infrastructure development, to poverty alleviation and to peace and stability in the region, also invited Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn and Foreign Minister Dr. Tedros to visit China again in the near future.
