News Release: Scout regional jamboree set in Lingayen BY: APRIL M. MONTES DAGUPAN CITY, October 18 (PIA) – More than 6,000 boy scouts from the Ilocos and central Luzon regions will troop to the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) Regional Jamboree on October 19 to 23 in barangay Estanza, Lingayen. Ramon Morden, executive assistant and scout regional commissioner for public relations, said the provincial government promotes scouting to every young Pangasinense citing its role as an integral part of their growing up years. Formal opening ceremony will kick off on October 19 at 5 p.m. Various activities will highlight the jamboree such as tree planting, lectures, and training on self-defense particularly arnis; knot-tying; and water search and rescue. The provincial government provides importance to the scouting movement as proven by the various projects initiated such as the BSP orientation program and the construction of the BSP building. The new BSP building, which was inaugurated last Wednesday, is located along Maramba Boulevard in Lingayen town. Pangasinan anticipates more participants to attend the five-day event noting the enthusiasm manifested by the various council regional executives, said Morden.
