[News&Request] Eric and his discovery of the romance genre Eric’s been passing the acting test with flying colors in his recent romance drama. Eric has been acting as ex-boyfriend Kang Taeha, who shakes up Han Yeoreum (played by Jung Yumi) with his charms, on KBS’s ‘Finding True Love’. In the process, he’s succeeded in reaching new heights, and has been branded as a good romance actor. It seemed at first Kang Taeha would be a ‘funny yet charming’ figure, the likes of which Eric showcased in the past. As the drama nears its end, however, the drama has been demanding more serious romantic moods from him, and he’s been delivering. He’s succeeded in changing the mood of his role without much trouble, drawing anticipation for any future romance roles that may come his way. Kang Taeha has recently been trying to tear himself away from Han Yeoreum, and overcome the pains of separation. Eric has succeeded in delivering such emotions. Many scenes show him staring at Han Yeoreum with tears in his eyes, and viewers have commented that though it seems Eric isn’t a man easy to bring to tears, he still managed to look natural in such scenes. It is said that Eric personally didn’t like the romance genre much. Most of his dramas, except for MBC’s ‘Firebird’, were thus more centered on comedy and action. It seems, however, that his skillful acting in ‘Finding True Love’ will draw positive reviews and affect the pieces to be later offered to him. One official close to Eric said, “Eric’s already been getting many offers for his next piece. The number of romance genre dramas has increased too.
