News September 25, 2014 Zombie Apocalypse? Two Dead Ebola Victims ‘Resurrect’ On Way To Burial, Mass Panic Follows Ebola murders Is a zombie apocalypse underway in Liberia? Some in the community seem to think so after two Ebola victims in the region have miraculously resurrected as they were being taken for burial. The incidents took place in two different communities within Nimba County. The New Dawn, a local paper located in Monrovia, Liberia, was the first to report on the alleged resurrections. The paper notes that the victims, both females, believed to be in their 60s and 40s respectively, died of the Ebola virus recently in Hope Village Community and the Catholic Community in Ganta, Nimba. “But to the amazement of residents and onlookers on Monday, the deceased reportedly regained life in total disbelief. The New Dawn Nimba County correspondent said the late Dorris Quoi of Hope Village Community and the second victim only identified as Ma Kebeh, said to be in her late 60s, were about to be taken for burial when they resurrected.” Essentially, the two women were presumed dead after suffering from severe cases of Ebola. Following their proclaimed deaths, the community gathered for their proper burials. However, to their surprise, the women came back to life. The paper also claims that Ma Kebeh had reportedly been left indoors for two nights without food and medication after her death was pronounced while waiting for her burial. This has left many in the community wondering how it is Kebeh could have survived even if her original death was improperly pronounced. This revelation led to mass panic within the community, many people believing that Dorris Quoi is a “ghost who shouldn’t live among them.” The Mirror notes that since the Ebola outbreak in Nimba County this is the first incident of dead victims resurrecting. The Ebola outbreak has already killed around 2,800 people in five West African countries this year while an estimated 5,800 people have been infected with the virus, which has no known cure. However, among those 2,800 deaths, these are the first two to wake at burial. Many commentors on the articles note that the most likely answer to the unexpected waking of the victims is not an impeding zombie apocalypse, but rather an improper pronouncement of death. This does, however, bring up an important question regarding deaths in the Liberia region. How many people have been buried that weren’t truly dead? What do you think?
