Hallyu is invading the Japanese market and for ever singer their dream is to hold a performance at Tokyo Dome (capacity 70,000), but the next level is the Stadium (capacity approx. 75,000). Just ok artists cannot fill the Stadium so TVXQ have once again made a special new record. This performance Yokohama Nissan Stadium is the stage where X-Japan, L’arc en Ciel, SMAP, etc. Japan’s legendary musicians have stood. For a foreign artist to be on this stage, TVXQ is the first. This year too TVXQ’s 10th year anniversary since debut and how have they made Hallyu last during this time? TVXQ made their debut through SBS special stage on December 26th, 2003. Rising as ‘Asia’s Star’ showcased their debut, HUG, in BoA and Britney Spears’ joint stage. At the time, U-Know Yunho (27) was a high school student and Max Changmin (25) was a middle school student. ‘A capella group who dances great’ TVXQ appeared in January 2004 with their debut album and immediately gained a fandom and explosive popularity. In 2006 they won, starting with Seoul Gayo Daesang, and swept the Golden Disc Award, SBS Gayo Daejun Daesang, and caused a syndrome in one breath. But until here they did not differ from the first generation idols H.O.T. god, Shinhwa, etc. But, after that they carved the path into Japan and started the boy group Hallyu wave. On April 27, 2005 TVXQ released their debut Japanese single ‘Stay with me tonight’ and ented the Japanese industry. They applied the strategy of getting accustomed to Japanese and singing songs in Japanese and throughly indigenizing. TVXQ’s strategy to enter Japan hit the mark, and after wards many Hallyu singers were able to enter Japan’s market after TVXQ. TVXQ began doing activites in both countries. TVXQ make different, new albums for both countries and do activities for each respectively to satisfy both side’s fans. In any case, fans transcend the language of the albums and buy all of them, making the language difference nothing. In 2009 the division of the team caused much pain but, their position in Japan became even stronger. Last year, they held a tour in 11 cities in Japan and mobilized an audience of 700,000, and continuing on this year through the 5 Dome Tour and Stadium performance they will gather an audience of 850,000. They held their world tour in America, China, and Chile and through the 2 years they are intended to make the audience record of 1,650,000 people. Together with their strong fandom SM spoke about the secret, “In 2005 TVXQ who at the time were already top stars in Korea made their debut as complete rookies in Japan. Because the grew up step by step, the root of the fandom was sturdy. The Japanese fans were there who liked them from debut” and added “TVXQ among all singers are the first and the best and there’s no other standard to compare to. It’s a situation where they are always, constantly making new records. TVXQ’s debut performance stage in Japan was in a small auditorium of a university. Since then it’s been 8 years and on the 17th fill up the Stadium with 75,000 people and stand on the stage themselves.” Translated and Shared by: TVfXQfever
