News from the Mayor of Adnet about the memorial to be unveiled - TopicsExpress

News from the Mayor of Adnet about the memorial to be unveiled next year in April. The Austrian Stonemasonry Academy which is carving the stone for the memorial has arranged for their young stonemasons to host a competition to design the best memorial. The winner will be decided by the end of next week and then the young stonemasons will create the memorial. Burgermeister Wolfgang Auer has made some major preparations and is planning quite an event. The Austrian TV corporation (equivalent of the BBC) are running the story in their news and a major magazine is also publishing the whole story too. There are some senior Austrian politicians attending the event along with their veterans organisation and a brass band. The county create a calendar every year with old photographs from the ages, the month of April is being reserved for the crew of PG-F Freddy LM765. I have been asked to list the number of copies required for us so if anyone has an interest, I will try to get a job lot sent over. The final thing from Adnet is that sadly, they are having to change the date of the unveiling to Friday the 24th of April, one day before the original date. The change is to accommodate members of the band, key personnel assisting with the project, the stonemasonry academy and their senior politicians that are attending. Whilst it is a pity that this is the case, it also means that the Austrian air Force will be able to do their fly by salute on the day of the unveiling, something which I feel is a very important gesture by our former enemies. All in all I am extremely positive about the whole Austrian preparations and feel very proud of what they are doing to honour those who were shot down and crashed in their small community.
