Vineyard owners said they are bringing in grapes by the tons because it is harvest season. Local wineries have about a 5 week window in the fall to harvest, ferment and press grapes for the juices inside. The owners of Grape Harvest Vineyard in Colbert said their grapes are ripe and ready for novice vintners that come to buy from this year’s crop selection. “They can come and crush, de-stem their grapes and prepare to make the wine. Or take it one step further we can juice it as well,” said Glen Hyman of Grape House Vineyard. Hyman said he had a few struggles during growing season this year. The major wind storm last month ripped through multiple vines and they also had to worry about frost last week. They have harvested about 4 tons in the past couple of weeks.
