Follow up-resource: For those interested in knowing more about Buddhism, go to pbs.org and look up the two-hour movie, “The Buddha” which is narrated by Richard Gere. Billy recommends it. This Sunday @ NVCC: session 4 of the series, “Hearing Many Voices: World Religions,” Islam. Islam is one of the three Abrahamic, monotheistic religions along with Judaism and Christianity. How very timely and important that we have at least a basic understanding so we can be better neighbors and better ambassadors of good will and understanding in our diverse and often polarized world. Facilitator Billy Thomas is hopeful that Muslim friends of his will be able to join us for the Q and A session at the end of the service. Pastor Mary will lead worship and Jane Lindberg will lead the music. Mission update- a shout-out of THANKS to Jennett Wilson Baker for her work with CREED and with other community involvements. Our bags of school supplies were dropped off and distributed. SAVE THE DATE: Thursday, Aug. 29, 11:30-2:00 pm Volunteers needed-Second Harvest will once again do a free food distribution in cooperation with Barnabas at the Peck Center. Volunteers are needed to help distribute the donated food. Here are the statistics from the last event, from Pantry Director, Phil St. Laurent: “We had 19 volunteers and served 154 families representing 483 individuals. Total food provided was 6,311 lbs.” Come and give a few hours to be part of this important effort. Our network of relationships spreads threads of love and support in many directions seen and unseen.
