NewsFlash: Church Membership 2015 Many years ago, my brother Mike belonged to a church in Austin. Sadly, Mike died in an accident, but his passing set me on my spiritual journey. After his passing, I started attending the church where he had attended. I really felt at home there, but I didnt join because I was uncomfortable with the requirement that I be baptized. You see, Id been baptized as an infant, and did not see the justification or significance of being re-baptized just to conform to their way of doing it. I finally reconciled to the idea, seeing it as symbolic of the new beginning of my spiritual journey, sparked by Mikes passing. But not until after I had moved away. It would have made the baptism much more meaningful to have done it and become a member at the church that my brother also had loved. Through that experience I have learned not to delay becoming a member when a church becomes my church home. If youve been sitting on the fence, feeling at-home at Unity of Temple but havent yet joined, I would urge you to do so. As we say about the Law of Attraction - or the Law of Resonance as I prefer to call it: whatever you put your energy into gets bigger. If you enjoy the sense of fellowship and your heart feels at home at Unity of Temple, put your energy into it and let that home-ness and sense of connection grow through becoming a member. Weve made that easy by providing an online membership application form on the website - go to UnityOfTemple.ORG, hover the pointer over the Home navigation tab, then Church Membership, then click Membership Application. Or, of course, you can fill out a membership card at church. If youre already a member: per our bylaws, members must submit a fresh membership form each year, in order to be considered a continuing membership, and in order to vote at the annual Membership meeting at the end of January. Please do this ASAP so that the board can keep your name on the membership list and reduce the workload of late submissions. For both members and regular visitors: if we havent received either an online or paper application within a week or so, Ill have to send out the application to you via US Postal, so getting us the application before then will save a lot of work and expense, and will be much appreciated!
