It’s Time To Start Planning For Christmas ! For those of you who aren’t familiar with the story, we wanted to tell you how the Christmas Bag Giveaway began. When the Linebarger children were very young, Dennis and Eden asked them if they would consider giving away their toys to the squatter children of the village instead of receiving toys of their own at Christmas. The Linebarger children all agreed and so the tradition began. Every year the ministry hands out gift bags to everyone at one of the church services during the Christmas Season. Last year, over 900 bags were passed out and this year we anticipate needing 1200 bags!! The bags contain an apple, an orange, several pieces of candy, a twenty peso bill (~.50 cents) and a special toy. These bags are often the only thing a child receives at Christmas and are a very special gift. To make the bags the same for everyone and to make donating toys easier, we are going to do things a little different this year. Kim will be ordering the toys for the bags through Oriental Trading Co. and taking care of the shipping. This way each bag contains exactly the same size and type of toy. In order to do this, we need to raise about $1400 for the toys alone. Kim needs to place the order for the toys by the first of September in order to get them shipped over to the Philippines in time for Christmas. Please consider making a donation towards this ministry event.
