Rome/Assisi Pilgrimage Returning Monday afternoon August 11th TO St Johns Lay-by Guild of St. Stephen There will be fewer Servers in evidence over the next few weeks as many take their summer holidays. We bid farewell to one Server who is moving away from Chester and a temporary goodbye to another stalwart who will be starting a university course in the autumn. We have two new recruits and therell be a Training Course for new recruits in the autumn. Watch this space! Mass Intention for Father Pauls Holiday in Rome I shall be back for a week after the Parish Pilgrimage before heading back to Rome for my own break. As always, I am delighted to say Mass for your intentions while I am away - please get any such requests to me in writing asap. Assumption Holy Day Friday August 15th - Masses at 7.30 am, 12.15 pm and 7.30 pm. No weddings allowed that day… Visiting another Parish over the summer? New Sound Systems Now installed: two parallel systems, a static mike at the Lectern, on the Altar and in the Pulpit; then also a Radio Mike for when Preachers go walkabout. Well be testing both systems in the next few months, and be wanting your feedback on both systems in detail! First Holy Communion Group 2014-15 Parents of any Year Threes or above not attending St Werburghs and St Columbas Catholic Primary please email FP if you would like your children to make their First Holy Communions/ First Forgiveness in the next School Year. Heritage Open Days 11th -14th September Information Booklets are now available. Booking for Events and Tours (all of which are FREE) opens on Mon 11th August. (01244 972210, Mon-Fri 10.00-12 noon, 1.00-4.00 pm). St. Werburghs is open on the above four days 10.00-4.00 pm. St. Columbas 50th Anniversary September 6th this year marks the 50th Anniversary of the laying of the foundation stone for St Columbas. To mark the occasion they are holding a flower festival and Bishop Mark will be celebrating Mass. There will also be other displays, some depicting past to present and a brief history of the Church activities. Thursday-Sunday, 4th-7th September. Church will be open Thursday 4th and Friday the 5th 10.30-7 p.m. On Saturday 6th Bishop Mark will be celebrating Mass at 12 noon and the Church will be open after Mass until 6.00 pm. On Sunday the 7th the Church will be open from noon-6.00. There is ample parking and refreshments will be available in the hall inc a light buffet after the Mass on Saturday.
