Newstime via GMA NEWS Driver jailed for taking video of Pinay in UAE shower room September 20, 2013 A United Arab Emirates court on Wednesday sentenced a Filipino driver to six months in jail for secretly taking a video of a Filipina nurse while she was naked in the shower. The Dubai Court of First Instance did not buy the defense of the driver that he was merely trying out his new mobile phone’s camera, according to a report on Gulf News. Presiding judge Maher Salama Al Mahdi also ordered the driver, 43, deported after he serves his sentence. The primary judgement is subject to appeal within 15 days. Court records showed the incident occurred at a bachelors’ accommodation at Jumeirah Beach Road on June 30. During the trial, the driver, 43, had pleaded not guilty and claimed he was only trying his new camera phone. The nurse, 23, testified she saw the driver extending his arm above the washroom’s door and taking shoots of her while she was showering around 9:30 a.m. “I shouted at him and covered myself then went out of the bathtub... then I caught him,” she said. An Emirati policeman testified the nurse claimed she stripped and went to the shower, but spotted a hand carrying a mobile phone from behind the shower curtain. “When I confronted the defendant, he admitted that he filmed his roommate for no particular reason. He alleged that he had purchased a new phone and he was just trying the video camera when the incident took place… he said he walked behind his roommate to the shower and filmed her,” the policeman said. — LBG, GMA News Admin chinG
