Next comes the subfloor, ring shank nailed and glued, trimmed around the edges, soon ready for the flooring, just a few days for the next part, to lay, sand, and oil. Again we are able to use the big beams and vintage wood, grown for hundreds of years before they were all cut and formed into another home before. The work it takes to get the wood to start is more than most people do to build the first third of a modern house, because one has to take down, denail, clean, and transport, packed by hand, before it ever gets reused to create this great house manifesting before your eyes.
