Next monday night, 9th of December at 10pm A Doctors War will be shown on TV3... This will be an hour long documentary telling Dr Aidan MacCarthys story, from growing up in Castletownbere to his experiences during WWII as a doctor with the RAF. His survival of almost four years as a POW, numerous near death encounters and finally and most dramatically his survival of the the atomic bomb on Nagasaki make for an amazing story. Weve been working on this for several years and everyone involved is delighted with what weve put together. We have a lot more footage and a bigger story to tell about the origins of the MacCarthy samurai sword but for the broadcast next Monday weve decided to focus on telling Dr MacCarthys story.
