Next up on the charity drive is ROLEYSTONES , another one close to me who i help out on fb by running there pages and groups Roleystone Horse & Pony Sanctuary cares for over 30 horses & ponies, 3 sheep, 2 goats, 2 dogs and a cockerel. Our primary purpose is to provide sanctuary for horses and ponies that have suffered from maltreatment, neglect or poor circumstances. Through rescue, rehabilitation and sanctuary care we can protect and care for them until we can rehome or give them a home for life where they know they will be safe. Many of the elderly horses & ponies need vitamins, supplements and medication to make the remainder of their lives a healthy one which can be very expensive, but necessary. Roleystone Sanctuary has had some major ownership changes in the past year and they have been working hard to make the sanctuary a better place for the horses and ponies plus a better place for the volunteers to work. We have been applying for funding to tackle the drainage problem which floods the stables. The cost of this work is £6,290. We have applied for grants to fund this and so far we have been successful in winning a bid for £5,000 from Wrose Community Centre and we are applying for a further £500 from Community Chest in Bradford, we are still awaiting to see if we have been successful in this bid. The Sanctuary is funded solely by the public and everyone that helps out at the sanctuary whether on the yard or fundraising is a volunteer. We have some special ponies that need rehoming, 2 shetlands, Samson & Geoffrey who are the cutest. Xerxes, who is unbroken and is a bit of a wild child who needs lots of one to one attention. We also have Cossacc who is a stunner, he did find a new home and has come on leaps, but the lady who rehomed him did not have enough time to work with him. He maybe coming back to us which is a are real shame, he deserves to be rehomed.
