As the fear of the spread of Ebola virus grips Nigerians,Catho lic churches in Lagos have suspended the Sign of peace,where the congregation shake hands during mass. Some Anglican churches have even suspended handshake during communion. The Archbishop of Lagos, Adewale Martins released a statement to that effect insisting that while the handshakes have been suspended, congregations should henceforth stop the use of the same cup to take communion. He also said holy water bowls usually placed at the entrance of churches should be discontinued. In the same vein,the Primate of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion,the Most Reverend Nicholas Okoh suspended shaking of hands during the exchange of the peace. He also suspended the age long mouth method of administering communion. He said this is aimed at preventing the spread of the disease through physical contact. Development monitored on they now wave one another instead of the traditional handshake and hug. Lessons from this to all Muslims: Have you heard of any mosque,placing sanitizers at its entrance? Have you seen any mosque ordering the changing of ablution kettle? Have you heard of a mosque which the congregation reduces? Did we Muslim stop the shaking of hands? Our jumah service still record high numbers. Did we brethren in faith stop our hugging to show the strength of brotherhood? Can any disease outbreak change any fundamentals in Islam? Verily Islam is a unique religion the Muslims are the best set of people. We enjoin good and forbid evil.......our religion has fundamentals and it can never be changed. Say alhamdulilah for being a Muslim.
