Nice win by Post 136 tonight at home against Macomb Post 6. We avenged an earlier season, 13-3, loss by winning 12-4 tonight. Mason Love pitched 8 innings, scattering 7 hits with only 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. Alex Sheetz came on in the 9th as Masons pitch count was nearing the point of getting him out of there anyway. Would have loved to see him finish but gotta keep the health of our guys in mind....lots of ball left to play in the next 4 weeks. We finally broke out offensively tonight. Pounded out 15 hits as a team, led by Brett Fordyce, Kal Youngquist and Lance Sperry with 3 hits apiece. Two of Kals were for extra bases, two doubles. Also getting multiple hits were Josh Weber and Mason Love. We broke the game open in the bottom of the first inning, putting four runs on the board after two outs, highlighted by Webers 2-RBI single. A five run bottom of the seventh finally put the game away. Brett Fordyce had the key hit in the inning with a 2-RBI single. With the win, we improved our record to (4-9) on the season, bettering last years mark of 3 wins. I looked back at the records since Rick and I started coaching this team and the 2011 team won 12 games. Thats our mark to shoot for as we near the halfway mark of our schedule. We now head to the Rock Island Alleman Sports Complex in Moline tomorrow night to finish the Rock Island game that was suspended by rain on Sunday. We are in the bottom of the third, down 6-2. It will be a nine inning game.
