Nigeria @54: Standard of education, employment still undesirable - MSSN Lagos ...Nigeria still undergoing post-colonialism not independence - MSSN ...MSSN calls for speedy investigation of Oritsejafor, TB Joshua ..MSSN to Fashola: Proof Nigerias independence by allowing hijab As Nigeria clocks 54, the Muslim Students of Nigeria, Lagos State Area Unit has scored government at all levels low on education, fight against corruption and insecurity. The group in a statement signed by its President, Kaamil Kalejaiye, also expressed displeasure over the rate of unemployment and disrespect for law. Kalajaiye, who prayed for Nigerias development, noted that there was need for Gods intervention in the activities of country. He said, It is important to say that it is only with Gods intervention that Nigeria shall grow desirably, but characters exhibited by our leaders are not in anyway encouraging especially in the area of education. Nigerian leaders are obviously the bane of students and educational development. 54 years after independence, our academic institutions still go on strike more than holidays. The mass failure in the just concluded West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) is just one of the numerous things to show for our failing educational system. Other countries advanced because their leaders see positions as a calling and national duty not as a means to enrich themselves and their families. It will not be too wrong for anyone to say that Nigeria is still in the phase of post-colonialism and not independence. There is nothing positive to show that it is better to be independent up till now. Our youths are still out there looking for jobs. Those that have decided to create jobs for themselves are not allowed to succeed through elistic and un-progressive government policies. Our leaders must wake up to their duties and work for the countrys future and not their pocket, religion, political party or tribe. Apart from education, Kalejaiye also said government at all levels must step up their effort in fighting corruption and insecurity. He described as painful and disturbing the seizure of Chibok girls, saying what the girls would be going through was unimaginable. We cannot picture their safety just as information from security operatives are imbalance and untrustworthy. According to him, the manner at which government cover religious leaders on corrupt cases and other malpractices wont make the country grow. It is discouraging that after our 54 years experience as a nation, we still place certain people above the law. Both Pastor TB Joshua and President of Christian Association of Nigeria, Ayo Oritsejafor should be investigated for the death of about 100 people and alleged smuggling of $9.3 million into South Africa by two Nigerians for arms purchase respectively. Nobody regardless of affiliation is bigger than investigation and sanction. Reactions of Federal Government to many corruption cases show that it was not ready for growth and for any nation to grow, it must be principled in the application of its laws. We must allow all religions the freedom they deserve. Why should FG be exornerating pastors, when Muslims especially females face hell in practising their religion? The Lagos State Government and others who have not granted hijab usage in their states or institutions should do that if we are truly an independent country with maximum freedom to rule ourselves. As an independent country, we should not limit the freedom of worshippers of a particular religion for another. We must promote equality and recognise individual differences, he added.
