Nigeria is a nation of naturally intelligent, smart, talented and hard working people with a very bright future. But natural intelligence and hard work alone wont make us realize our corporate dreams, take us to the cutting edge among the committee of nations and help us victoriously combat the challenges we face from time to time - WE NEED KNOWLEDGE. The core problem of our nation is not corruption but the lack of zeal for knowledge. Corruption thrives in an environment of people ignorant of their rights and the legitimate means of achieving them, especially in a democracy like ours where REASONING is the crucial factor. We havent seen the necessity of continuously educating ourselves in the principles and methods of nation building to be aware of our various roles in the scheme of things. The knowledge lacuna makes the teeming population of more than 150 million people to be easily swayed, manipulated and deceived by baseless information from social media, popular opinion, and political manifestos devoid of ideology flowing from the wills of power drunk elites who are out to serve their own purposes. Notably, over 85% of the populace is driven by fear and humour. All you need to sell something here is to either make people laugh or to make them apprehensive of the consequences of not using that product. This accounts for how a young lady was able to convince an entire nation overnight of the salt/water solution as a cure/vaccine against the dreaded ebola virus. Today, more persons have died from the salt/water solution than from the ebola virus in Nigeria. Sincerely, this incident is what prompted this broadcast. Its high time we as a people engaged our reasoning faculties and stopped being driven by the emotions of fear and humour. It starts with reading. Reading doesnt only offer you information but also trains the mind to analyze, process information and reach meaningful judgments when confronted with lifes issues. #AriseNigeria @belovedhillcity
