Niis Take On VGMA 14: An opening act, warm-up act, or supporting act is an entertainment act (musical, comedic, or otherwise), that performs at a concert before the featured act, or headliner. Rarely, an opening act may perform again at the end of the event, or perform with the featured act after both have had a set to themselves. The opening acts performance serves to warm up the audience, making it appropriately excited and enthusiastic for the headliner. In rock music, the opening act will usually be an up-and-coming group with a smaller following than the featured artist. On long concert tours, different opening acts may be used for different legs of the tour. The VGMAs since its inception have opened the show with all manner of people such as Musicians,radio and TV personalities etc.From the days of Obuors story telling,Saminis opening ,Funny Faces dry jokes and Chris Attohs most electricifying medical act last two years,there have been efforts to create some level euphoria before the major concert.Normally curtain raiser set the tone for the event and leaves the audience with much more expectations or boredom.Pundits in rating or criticizing event put opening act on item 1.After watching a few Ghana Music Awards,one most common opening act have been story telling or poetry which normally gives novist an insight of the history of Ghana music,but when an opening act drags into hours even with music,still gets boring.An ideal opening act must be engaging,concise(STP communication),interesting concept(can be absurd depending on your target audience and your objective) worth watching and sometimes hilarious.Producers arent barred from viewing international opening act and localising it for the Ghanaian audience.congrat for previous opening.we expect more this year
