Speaking at the turning over ceremony in Sanniquellie Thursday, the acting PMC chairman, Eddie Tenwah, said the motorbikes are intended to ease the transportation problem facing the district commissioners and statutory Superintendents. At the 2012/2013 County Council Sitting held in March 2013, the council allotted US$17,000 to each administrative district for local development. In March of the same year, the Development Steering Committees of the 17 Administrative Districts wrote a joint resolution empowering the PMC to purchase 17 motorbikes for some of their commissioners and statutory Superintendents. The PMC chairman put the cost of each of the motorbikes at US$4,250. Receiving the keys to the motorbikes, Nimba County Superintendent Fong Zuagele thanked the project Management Committee for procuring the bikes, and urged the commissioners to ensure that the bikes are properly maintained. Superintendent Zuagele informed journalists at the ceremony that the distribution of the motorbikes will start on Monday, December 22. LINA
