Nine-year girl raped, strangled. Residents of Quarter Zone in Kawempe Division, Kampala are still in shock after reports that two men allegedly gang-raped a nine-year-old girl before they strangled her to death. Police identified the dead girl as Nisha Nambi and her body has been taken to Mulago hospital mortuary for a postmortem. Deputy police spokesman Patrick Onyango described the incident as barbaric and absurd, promising that the police would do all they to bring the suspects to book. “They (suspects) found the girl playing with other children. They lured her to abandon the children’s games and took her to an abandoned building where they gang-raped her and strangled her,” Mr Onyango said yesterday. He, however, said the suspects have been arrested and they are being held at Kawempe Police Station on charges of rape and murder. “Our officers have recorded statements from several witnesses and they have recovered some exhibits that will aid them in their investigations. We expect to take them to the hospital for medical examinations to establish whether they are in their normal state of mind,” Mr Onyango added
