Ninth-ranked Michigan State (19-3 overall, 8-1 Big Ten) resumes its conference schedule Thursday against Penn State (12-10, 3-6), with tipoff set for 9 p.m. ET on ESPN2. The Nittany Lions enter tonight’s game as the Big Ten’s hottest team, riding a three-game winning streak. MSU leads the all-time series against Penn State, 32-7, including a 19-1 record in games played in East Lansing. The Spartans have won 16 of the last 20 meetings against the Nittany Lions. Sophomore guard Gary Harris leads the Big Ten in scoring, averaging 18.4 points per game. Senior forward Adreian Payne, who has missed the last seven games with a sprained foot, is expected to return to the playing rotation tonight and see 15-20 minutes of action. Senior guard Keith Appling (15.0 points, 4.9 assists) will sit out tonight’s game against Penn State to rest his wrist. Penn State’s starting lineup features three double-figure scorers: guards D.J.
