No DUI checkpoints this weekend. GOVIRAL has been happy to sponsor and coordinate this crowd sourced DUI alert system. A lot of the things we program are great because Wichitas online public is great at sharing cool information. Two weeks ago another publicly sourced project of ours (wichitatalent) was abused by public spam and uploads of other peoples content by opportunistic trolls looking to claim the cash prize that was intended for the winning model. The website was online for 3 days and we were notified of the abuse, and immediately shut the website down. Any crowdsourced solution has the potential to be abused. This checkpoints system, for example, breaks down if idiots start reporting fake checkpoints. Fortunately, that hasnt happened. 100% of our reports of an impending DUI checkpoint have been correct. Meko Haze, took it upon himself to post harassing pictures in an attempt to blame GOVIRAL for his website crashing somehow as a result of hacking by GOVIRAL. Facebook removed his posts as they were absurd. We are trying to help the public, and in the case of DUI checkpoints we do this to help keep the roads safe and the people off them who shouldnt be driving. So if some wrong info gets posted on this or any of our other user submitted websites just tell us - we will remove it. We act responsibly and ethically. Facebook removed Mekos content for harassment, but his website dailyhaze still continues to post inaccurate and accusatory bullshit about Goviral and us, its owners. Since these public projects are just for the good of Wichita, and not what GOVIRALs revenue comes from. We consider Mekos article lame enough for us to not want to continue public submitted websites. So, as long as Meko Haze keeps his harassing and article off his website, dailyhaze, we will not be reporting DUI checkpoints any longer. Were sorry Wichita but we dont need the headache.
