No Electricity Supply For Bo, Kenema By Sheku Tanga The City of Kenema in the Eastern Province of Sierra Leone is completely cut off from electricity supply for the past several months. The main source of energy supply to the city is the Dodo Hydro Dam that is gradually diminishing in service provision due to the obsolete equipment at the dam. A business woman Madam Fatmata Kamara who owns a shop at the How For Do Market said “economic activities in Kenema have been slowed down due to the lack of electricity supply” BKPS (Bo/Kenema Power Services) has been severely criticised by community members over local radio for poor performance and service delivery to the people of Kenema. David Kekura Sama who is serving as the Public Relations Officer of B/KPS said that, H.E. the President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma had promised the people of Bo and Kenema a 48 Megawatts generator that is capable of supplying electricity for the two cities. He also noted that the Government of the Peoples Republic of China is in the process of supporting the rehabilitation of the Dodo Dam to ensure consistency. Bo in the Southern region that also heavily relies on the Dodo Hydro Dam for electricity supply is facing similar problem. David Sama stated that Sierra Leone has entered into agreement with Ghana for the supply of electricity in three countries in the West Africa sub region and called on the people to exercise patience adding that development is a process.
