No Friday Prayers in Kashmir’s Jamia Masjid : SRINAGAR : Friday prayers could not be offered in historic Jamia Masjid and roadside mosques in curfew bound areas in the down town and Shehar-e-Khas (SeK). However, Friday prayers were held at Hazratbal, which houses the Holy Relic of Prophet Muhammad, though the attendence of devotees was very less and in other shrines, mosques and Khankhas across the Kashmir valley. Large number of security force and police personnel have been deployed outside the Jamia Mmasjid in the SeK and nobody was allowed to go inside. A spokesperson of the moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC) said nobody was allowed to enter the mosque since the imposition of the curfew yesterday morning. He said chairman of the HC Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq, who address Friday congregation, remained under house arrest. The Spokesperson said said a large number of security force personnel remained deployed outside the Nigeen residence of Mirwaiz. No Friday prayers could be offered in the mosques on both sides of main road in the curfew bound areas. However, people offered prayers in the mosques in the interior areas.
