No doubt, China has still much room for improvement in terms of its environmental protection and conservation efforts. For external parties who are truly concerned, especially the US, this is my suggestion. Playing the blame game is not the most meaningful way of addressing the problem, to say the least. The Chinese govt. obviously needs to step up the enforcement of environmental regulations for its part. On the other hand, the United States should help China in combating some of the challenges in environmental management and maximizing fuel efficiency instead of keeping a tight grip on advanced technologies in the name of safeguarding national security. Is that not a bit of hypocritical? Bear in mind the effects of pollution are global. How is restricting Chinese access to dual-use cleaner technologies - even though they may be sensitive - helpful in serving American national interests? China, for quite some years now, has been the top investor in green energy despite having much less carbon emission per capita than the developed world for many decades if not centuries until today! Please, if you really care about humanity living in a common world. Finger-pointing is easy but what kinda viable solutions can you put on the table, solutions appealing enough for you to accept? :)
