Maybe everything you do will be successful. - Ecclesiastes 11:6 (ERV) Meditation When drivers explain their auto accidents, they can come up with some amazing—and humorous—explanations. Columnist Ann Landers gave examples from reports provided to one insurance company. One driver claimed, “A pedestrian hit me and went under my car.” Another expertly described, “The accident occurred when I was attempting to bring my car out of a skid by steering into the other vehicle.” A third said, “The guy was all over the place. I had to swerve a number of times before I hit him.” Finally, a particularly imaginative motorist said, “As I approached the intersection, a stop sign suddenly appeared in a place where no stop sign had ever appeared before. I was unable to stop in time to avoid the accident.” The excuses we try to give God probably sound just as bad. Today’s verse talks about the importance of responsibility when it comes to our work, but the principle seamlessly applies as well to our efforts to share God with others. It’s awfully hard for a harvest of salvation to happen if we’re lax in planting His seeds of truth and love. Do your best for Him. No excuses. Prayer Lord, You desire my diligence in all things, especially in proclaiming Your Word and showing Your compassion to others. Enable me to be successful for You! In Your name, Amen.
