No indictment. Now we get to watch herd mentality in real time. This is a reminder that we are living biological organisms--subject to our evolved human condition. The only thing that sets us apart from our animal instincts is our ability to think and reason rationally. When ration and logic are thrown to the wind (as we are seeing in Ferguson), all hell breaks loose. You can see this play out in so many different aspects of life. People in the in-group feel outraged so they want everyone to feel it. Majority of those in the in-group have no idea what is happening and yet somehow--they are outraged too. This exact same mechanism can be seen at play (albeit to lesser extents) every single day. Politics, for example. How many times do we see someone share a picture with hate aimed at a politician based solely off a picture they thought sounded good and made sense? I see it every day. Those people have literally no clue about the crux of an issue, but there they are--throwing in with the herd mentality. Religion is the exact same, but Ill save that one for another day. The ruling was correct. But, both sides of these discussions have some merit. Does Law Enforcement need to increase their training in how they apply force? Yep. Undoubtedly. There are FAR too many examples of people being shot that didnt need to for anyone to try and argue against that. But, do people on the other side need to take an honest look at the statistics involving minorities and crime? Yep. Lastly, I thought it was a good jab when the prosecutor took a shot at the media for just compounding the issue and race-baiting. And rightfully so. Stop giving race-baiters your business. Tune out. Get your media from somewhere else.
